Jizoku Inc. Carbon Offsets Toyama’s ‘Josai’ Summer Festival with Local “Mirai no Me Credit”

Jizoku Inc. (Head Office: Kunitachi City, Tokyo; Representative Director: Keiichiro Kataoka, hereinafter “Jizoku”) is pleased to announce that it provided carbon credits generated by farmers in Toyama Prefecture to offset the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the “Jousai” festival, held on August 23 (Fri.) and 24 (Sat.), 2025 at Toyama Castle Park. As a result of this initiative, “Jousai” achieved carbon neutrality in its event operations.

The credits provided by Jizoku were “Mirai no Me Credits,” generated in Toyama Prefecture and featuring a unique mechanism in which a portion of sales revenue is donated to support young people in the region. Through this effort, we supported both the philosophy of Toyama City, which aspires to become an “Environmental Future City,” and the spirit of “Jousai,” from an environmental perspective.

Project Overview and Background

Jousai was launched by university students in Toyama Prefecture with the aim of revitalizing the local community and addressing challenges such as declining vibrancy, while showcasing the prefecture’s appeal. In addition, the event commemorated the reopening of Toyama Castle Park, which had been damaged in the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and completed its restoration work in mid-August 2025.

While the festival attracted thousands of visitors over the two days, the event also generated greenhouse gas emissions through food service, electricity use, and other activities. Jizoku addressed this challenge by utilizing locally generated carbon credits, thereby achieving carbon neutrality while simultaneously supporting both the regional economy and future generations through the “Mirai-no-me Credits.”

Future Initiatives

Jizoku will continue to promote initiatives such as the “local production for local consumption” of carbon credits, youth support, and regional revitalization activities. By connecting the environment, the regional economy, and future generations, we aim to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
