Biochar Addition to Mineral Soil in Cropland/Grassland
Agricultural waste such as rice husks, wood, and bamboo is turned into charcoal and applied to farmland to sequester carbon.

For Jizoku, sustainability is not only about protecting the environment. It is also about giving local communities the tools and support they need to thrive.
As climate pressures intensify and soil degradation continues to threaten agricultural productivity, Jizoku is working closely with local farm households to introduce a sustainable solution. We support farmers by providing access to Biochar technology, which transforms agricultural waste into a carbon-rich material that enhances soil quality and helps capture carbon in the ground. To ensure effectiveness and transparency, we have developed a certification system that monitors the production process and verifies the quality of each batch. Throughout the process, data is carefully collected and analyzed to improve efficiency and consistency. Once the Biochar is applied to rice paddies, we record the results and prepare the documentation required to apply for carbon credits. Through this approach, Jizoku not only promotes sustainable farming but also empowers rural communities to participate in climate action and benefit from the growing carbon economy.
