Jizoku Inc. Begins Generation of “Mirai no Me Credit”
Jizoku Inc. and the General Incorporated Association Toyamanome are pleased to announce the release of “Mirai no Me Credit,” the third initiative under the #Mirai no Me Fund, a program designed to provide financial support for addressing local challenges and fostering new regional initiatives.
This fund operates through a community-driven support system, with Jizoku Inc. allocating a portion of the revenue generated from carbon credits created through this project to the fund. Notably, Hayashinosan Co., Ltd., which has been collaborating with the General Incorporated Association Co. (the predecessor organization of Jizoku Inc.) since last year to generate carbon credits through extended mid-season drainage in paddy rice cultivation, has joined the project as a member and will co-create the first “Mirai no Me Credit.”
Project Details and Background:
This launch of “Mirai no Me Credit” in Toyama Prefecture marks the second collaborative project between Jizoku Inc. and the General Incorporated Association Toyama no Me, following their business alliance established on August 1, 2024.
By partnering with Toyama no Me, a community development organization in Toyama Prefecture, the revenue generated from Jizoku Inc.’s carbon credit creation business will be directed to support young people in the region. This initiative aims to foster cross-sector revitalization throughout Toyama Prefecture.
The agricultural industry currently faces challenges such as a declining workforce due to an aging population, a situation prevalent in Toyama Prefecture, where the number of core agricultural workers, typically full-time farmers, significantly decreased by 25.8% between 2015 and 2020, reaching 11,258 individuals.
In response to this reality, there is a growing recognition of the need to reaffirm agriculture’s value and strengthen its social responsibility by leveraging its multifaceted functions, including food production, decarbonization, biodiversity conservation, and education, to address these challenges.
Jizoku Inc., guided by its vision to “create rice paddies that last for 2000 years,” engages in businesses that broadly evaluate the multifaceted functions of agriculture through carbon credit creation and biodiversity surveys.
By jointly creating “Mirai no Me Credit” with Toyama no Me, an organization established to address social issues in primary industries, the revenue derived from the environmental value created in Toyama Prefecture can be invested in the activities of young people in the region, further contributing to local revitalization.
What is “Mirai no Me Credit”?
“Mirai no Me Credit” refers to J-Credits (Japan’s carbon credit scheme) jointly created by Jizoku Inc. and the General Incorporated Association Toyama no Me in Toyama Prefecture.
Through this collaborative project, a portion of the revenue (¥10 per ton) generated from carbon credits created by Jizoku Inc. with rice farmers in Toyama Prefecture will be donated through Toyama no Me to young people in Toyama Prefecture who are striving towards their dreams related to the revitalization of primary industries.
This initiative aims to increase engagement in primary industries, including agriculture, and contribute to their overall revitalization.
As the first step, Hayashinosan Co., Ltd., which has been collaborating with the General Incorporated Association Co. and Jizoku Inc. since last year to create J-Credits through extended mid-season drainage in paddy rice cultivation, has joined the project as a member and will co-create the first “Mirai no Me Credit.”
